  1. Acquired in asset purchase of IMRL. Ex-IMRL 103, 105, 112, 114, 120, 126 & 137 re-lettered ICE.

  2. Ex-Espee GP40-2s turned back to lessor during April 2000. Delivered to Nahant on January 10, 2003.

  3. Acquired in asset purchase of IMRL. Lettered ICE 209, 206 & 208. Rebuilt in 2007 and renumbered 6100-6102. 

  4. Former CP SD40-2s acquired from NRE in 2006.

  5. Acquired through GE Rail Services in 2003. Series comprises mostly of ex-UP SD40-2s. (see Detailed Roster)

  6. Leased from parent road Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern. Sent to IC&E at start-up.

  1. DME 6052, 6096, 6365 & 6367 were leased from Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern from October 2003 until November 2003. 

  2. DME 6359-6369 were leased from Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern from April 2003 until July 2003.

  3. DME 6070, 6072, 6363 & 6370 were leased from Dakota, Minnesota & Eastern from December 2003 until January 2004.

  4. Various numbers in series. Owned by First Union Rail. Leased upon start-up of IC&E 7/30/02. See Detailed Roster.
    Many returned during summer of 2003 after the arrival of the IC&E SD40-2s. All returned by October 10, 2003.
    FURX 8110 wrecked at Clear Lake, IA, August 1, 2002. Involved in crossing accident with fuel truck. Destroyed by fire.

  5. IMRL 12 sold to Locomotive Specialists of Waycross, GA. Moved offline on 2/22/2003.
    IMRL 13 sold to Sterling Rail of Sterling, IL. Moved offline on 12/27/2002.

  6. IMRL 603 sold to DeBruce Grain of Nebraska City, NE. Moved offline on 3/9/2003.
    IMRL 609 sold to DeBruce Grain of Nebraska City, NE. Moved offline on 2/7/2003.
    IMRL 610 sold to DeBruce Grain of Creston, IA. Moved offline on 3/7/2003.
    IMRL 611 sold to Farmer's Union Coop Elevator Co. of Highmore, SD. Moved offline 8/2003.
    IMRL 612 sold to DeBruce Grain of Lexington, NE. Moved offline on 3/9/2003.

  7. Supplied by GE Capital to cover late delivery of SD40-2s from September 2003 until November 2003.
    SP 8496 is owned by GE, but for some reason it was not re-lettered GECX while on the IC&E.

  8. IMRL 101 reportedly sold to NRE of Silvis, IL, for scrap in March 2004.

  9. Acquired in asset purchase of IMRL. Ex-IMRL 201-202, 206, 208-209, 213, 217, 221-224, 230-231 & 233  re-lettered ICE. 
    IMRL 207 parted out 1/03. ICE 213 parted out 2/05. All IMRL units are stored. Some ICE units stored.ICE 231 & 232 were sold to NRE in March 2005. ICE 231 was seen lettered NREX 231 at Nahant in late March.

  10. Acquired in asset purchase of IMRL.  Ex-IMRL 363 and 8936 re-lettered ICE in late November 2002. ICE 8936 reportedly retired 2/05.

  11. Acquired in asset purchase of IMRL. Ex-IMRL 613 & 614 re-lettered ICE, returned to service August 2004. All retired by 2005.
